Behind every good man, there is an even greater woman and a mother is one that molds her child's life, be it good or bad. In the series of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, we see the influences that mothers play in their child's outcomes. They are mothers, wives, and grandmothers, each being the embodiment of strength, caring and unconditional love, for the most part.
The mothers within JJBA have a wide range, from absentees to smothering, some appearing briefly or not at all, but each one had a story to tell. The importance of this bond is even the entire premise of Stardust Crusaders, with Jotaro departing on a long, arduous journey to save his mother and Joseph to save his only daughter.
10 Giorno's Mother (Name Unknown)
Was originally married to Dio and was not a responsible mother at all to Giorno. She would leave him alone for all hours of the night and go drinking in bars. When Dio was out of the picture on to his next love interest, she married another man who proceeded to abuse Giorno from a very young age. The identity of Giorno's mother is never revealed, as she is only mentioned briefly, but she left Giorno when he was only a few years old to fend for himself, which is pretty horrible.
9 Doppio's Mother (Name Unknown)
Born in an all-female prison on a remote island with a two-year-long pregnancy, she tells the guards at the prison that the father of this mysterious child has been dead of two years. Since the prison was no place to raise a child, a foster parent was found for him and he was sent away. Doppio lived a peaceful life with a priest of a local church in Sardinia, his mother's hometown. A while later, the priest found the body of Doppio's mother, surprisingly still alive, under the floorboards of the house. The priest was then murdered by Doppio and the village was burned to the ground, this was a way to cover up his death and he hid his identity from the world. So, in reality, Doppio's mom was always 'there' but not really.
8 Shinobu Kawajiri
Housewife and mother of Hayato Kawajiri, within the family that Yoshikage Kira 'steals' to cover up his identity. She seems rather self-centered and didn't notice that her sudden improvement in her relationship with her 'husband' was strange, and her romantic interest in him was rekindled. Shinobu acts rather childish and spoiled and is not a very responsible mother or housewife. More interested in romance and material things, she didn't catch on that things were strange between her 'husband' and she also secretly held her son responsible for her staying in a bad marriage all those years prior, which is very selfish.
7 Lisa Lisa
Even though a naturally skilled Hamon user, as well as a beauty not ravaged by age, Lisa Lisa was not a good mother. When Joseph was a child, she disappeared to make practicing Hamon her top priority, and instead of telling the child the truth, Robert Speedwagon, Joseph's caretaker at the time, told him that she was dead. And then, to make matters worse, she didn't think to tell him her true identity herself after they met. Lisa Lisa even gave her son life-threatening Hamon training shortly after their initial meeting which would seem cruel, but this showed that she knew deep down he was strong enough to succeed, which is kind of sweet.
6 Suzi Q
Originally introduced as Lisa Lisa's servant girl, she later becomes Joseph's wife and they have a daughter together named Holy. Suzi seems a bit ditzy but pretty independent and smart despite it all. In Stardust Crusaders, when she heard the news that her daughter that fallen deathly ill, she dropped everything and traveled from America to Japan to take care of her.
Everyone tried to keep it a secret from her that her daughter was ill due to her appearing Stand, however, Suzi outsmarted them all and revealed that she knew all along.
5 Koichi's Mother (Name Uknown)
A minor character and mother of two, there is not much known about Koichi's mom. She appears to be very energetic, cheerful, and friendly to all she meets. She is a bit gullible, as she is tricked by conniving Tamami's Stand, The Lock, almost committing suicide believing her son to be involved in petty theft and attempted murder. This was of course a lie, and after she realizes this due to her undying faith in her son, she snaps out of it and Tamami is punished by Koichi for deceiving his kind mother so badly.
4 Holy Kujo (Joestar)
Holy is extremely kind, motherly and old-school, a seemingly 'poster mom'' of the series as a whole. She can be a bit aloof and childish, as she still calls her father, Joseph, 'papa' even as a grown woman and embarrassingly tickles him out in public. Holy raised Jotaro mostly on her own since her husband was a jazz musician who traveled often for work. She loved her son unconditionally, despite him being quite the delinquent who would treat her like badly and call her names. She always looked past his behavior and always knew he was a good person deep down and continued to wear a smile through it all, even when she was near death due to her Stand appearing.
3 Jolyne's Mother (Unknown)
All that is known about Jolyne's mother is that she is now Jotaro's ex-wife and she raised Jolyne on her own. Not much is known about her as she was only mentioned and seen briefly in the manga. The divorce furthered the gap between Jotaro and his only daughter and tore the family apart.
Jolyne disowned him and even changed the spelling of her family name from 'Kujoh' to 'Cujoh'. Due to her harsh upbringing, she was a rude delinquent who spent considerable time behind bars after committing multiple minor crimes. She was distant from her mother but admired that she stayed by her side, even though she was a difficult child.
2 Tomoko Higashikata
Due to an oddly uncharacteristic move by Joseph Joestar, Josuke was the illegitimate child of both Joseph and Tomoko. Since Joseph was married at the time to Suzi Q, Tomoko was forced to raise Josuke on her own as a single parent. She appears to be a caring, independent, and short-tempered individual who doesn't take nonsense from anyone. Tomoko is an overtly kind person and has developed a strong, loving relationship with both her son and her elderly father.
1 Erina Joestar
It's evident from the moment she appears that Erina is a wonderful woman. She is always loyal and loving to Jonathan and even put a stranger's welfare above her own when she saved a child to take care of as her own after her husband died. In her later years, it seems she also took care of Smokey who was speculated to be an orphan. Even at an old age, she continued to be a very strong, independent woman who was able to take care of herself and many others.
