While many classic DC Comics characters have yet to be introduced in the New 52, some have had teases in the mainstream DCU, such as Will Magnus and his Metal Men in "Justice League" #16. It seems as though the tease in "Justice League" was appropriate as DC Comics Chief Creative Officer and series writer Geoff Johns has posted a "Justice League" #18 variant cover by Kenneth Rocafort via Twitter that depicts Platinum up against Leaguers Batman, Wonder Woman, Cyborg and Flash with the teasing text, "Meet Platinum...robotic hero...or threat to humanity?"

While the photo only confirms Platinum as part of the "Justice League" issue, it's likely that the rest of Magnus' Metal Men aren't far behind. Created by Robert Kanigher, Ross Andru and Mike Esposito in "Showcase" #37, the original Metal Men were the invention of Dr. Will Magnus, who created each of the robots out of a certain kind of metal. Every robot's personality and powers mirrored their respective metal. The group had their own story in "Wednesday Comics" in 2009 written by Dan DiDio with art by Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez and Kevin Nowlan, and made an appearance in early issues of 2009's "Doom Patrol."
