Although Johnny Depp's hand injury earlier this month was initially expected to have only "minimal impact" on "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales," new reports indicate production won't resume until about April 15.

The actor was flown from Australia to the United States on March 10 to have a pin inserted into his finger after hurting himself off set. A spokesman for the Disney sequel told The Hollywood Reporter that the restart of production depends on Depp's recuperation.

About half of the film's 400-person crew -- it's the largest feature to shoot in Australia -- is in limbo until Depp's return.

Opening July 17, 2017, "Dead Men Tell No Tales" also stars Javier Bardem, Geoffrey Rush, Kaya Scodelario, Brenton Thwaites, Kevin R. McNally, Stephen Graham and Golshifteh Farahani.
