John Williams to Score "Star Wars: Episode VIII" In Just a Few Weeks

As reported back in June, John Williams is returning to the "Star Wars" series to score the yet-to-be-titled "Episode VIII" -- and now we can say his work is about to begin.

Noted by a concert review over at Mass Live, Williams told the crowd at Tanglewood (where he was conducting the Boston Pops through several of his compositions) that he would start composing in just a few weeks.

Most exciting of all, Williams said he would begin scoring the film after viewing a rough cut. That's right: An early draft of the eighth "Star Wars" film is about to come into existence. Hell, maybe it's already done.

That means production is admittedly a lot further along then we thought, especially considering that the official release date isn't until December 15th, 2017.
