Actor Bill Skarsgård claims his role in John Wick: Chapter 4 stands apart from the super-assassin's other villains.

In an interview with Total Film, the actor best known for playing Pennywise in Stephen King's It spoke in depth about being Keanu Reeves' latest threat in the upcoming sequel. His role as Marquis de Gramont is a "viciously ambitious" member of High Table looking to cause some trouble for Wick. "The Marquis is a young man of unknown origin who has quickly climbed the ladder within the High Table doing god knows what," Skarsgård said.

Embodying the "bureaucratic evils" of the High Table, Skarsgård's Marquis does not have the same physical power as other assassins who sought to take out Wick in past films, but he has the ability to twist around the High Table's rules to make the hardened hitman's life a living hell. "I always saw him as someone from the gutter that now savours the glittery suits he’s wearing," Skarsgård continued. "He functions as the new sheriff set out to rid the world of John Wick once and for all."

The Latest Chapter of the John Wick Saga

Set immediately after the cliffhanger conclusion of John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum, the fourth film sees Wick joining forces with the Bowery King (Laurence Fishburne) to bring down the High Table once and for all. But before he can earn his freedom, he crosses paths with the Marquis looking to succeed where others failed. "John’s getting old and tired, the Marquis is offering him a way out," Skarsgård said. "To be the one who finally kills the Baba Yaga would secure his status and power within the High Table."

Another new addition to the world of John Wick is legendary action star Donnie Yen in the role of the blind High Table assassin Caine. Additionally, Dexter: New Blood star Clancy Brown joins the franchise as the Harbinger, who plays an important role in the High Table's secrets. "I will say it's more of the Table revealed," Brown said. "More of the High Table, the kind of intricacies of that authority structure is revealed. With my guy. And I am in a couple of scenes that you could argue are action scenes, I suppose. A lot of my scenes are with Bill Skarsgård, which was a lot of fun."
