With John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum opening in theaters everywhere in less than a week, the early reviews for the eagerly anticipated sequel are looking positive across the board.
The critics score on review aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes is currently at an astonishingly good 98% across 40 reviews.
This score is currently the highest among the franchise's three films. Comparatively, the original 2014 John Wick has a critics score of 87%, while its 2017 sequel, John Wick: Chapter 2, has a critics score of 89%. It's also the highest-rated film of Reeves' career. Outside of the action film series, his filmmaking documentary Side by Side and the 1994 action film Speed hold a critics scores of 93%.
As the critics score for Chapter 3 - Parabellum is currently based only on early reviews, there's a good chance the number will go down when the movie opens next week. Still, this is a strong start for the upcoming sequel and gives it a good chance of achieving the review aggregator's coveted "Certified Fresh" designation.
Directed by Chad Stahelski, John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum stars Keanu Reeves, Ian McShane, Laurence Fishburne, Halle Berry, Jason Mantzoukas, Lance Reddick and Anjelica Huston. It opens on May 17 in theaters everywhere.
