Lionsgate will release John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum’s first trailer this Thursday, January 17. The studio announced the news with a brief, 10-second teaser that reveals a glimpse of director Chad Stahelski’s blood-soaked, neon-drenched world.
The teaser itself jumps right back into the atmosphere of the series from the first shot, with New York City draped in neon purple lighting. The next two shots follow the title character as Keanu Reeves runs through the city, followed by a quick look at Laurence Fishburne’s Bowery King, who debuted in John Wick: Chapter 2. A quick stinger of action shots, including motorcycles and Wick holding a massive gun, wraps up the teaser.
The film will likely pick up right where Chapter 2 left off, right after Ian McShane’s Winston -- one of the leaders of America’s branch in the secret world of assassins -- declared Wick “excomunicado” but gave him a one hour head start. This finale was succinctly recapped by the franchise’s Twitter account, which also promoted a feature to get updates on the film via text.
John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum will welcome new characters played by stars like Jason Mantzoukas, Halle Berry and Hiroyuki Sanada. According to Reeves, the "Parabellum" subtitle stems from a Latin phrase that means, “If you want peace, prepare for war.” The brief plot description teases a battle for survival.
Directed by Chad Stahelski, John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum releases on May 17, 2019 in the United States. It stars Keanu Reeves, Ian McShane, Laurence Fishburne, Halle Berry, Jason Mantzoukas, Lance Reddick and Anjelica Huston.
