Sherlock's father, Morland Holmes, arrives in New York City in a handful of new photos from Entertainment Weekly, which offer a first look at "Fringe" alum John Noble in the role.

"Once he arrives, Sherlock does not appreciate the attention or the distraction that his dad represents," explained executive producer Rob Doherty. "For him, it’s too little too late. This is a father and a son with a very complicated history. I'd say for at least a couple decades, Sherlock's father has been out of sight, out of mind. This is going to be a big adjustment for Sherlock to have dad nearby."

Though the character has never appeared in the show, he has exerted some degree of influence over the character, helping Sherlock (Johnny Lee Miller) with his first stint in rehab and eventually pairing him with Joan Watson (Lucy Liu), who would become his friend throughout the show. With Sherlock back in rehab, his father will make the journey to New York City.

“Elementary” returns to CBS this fall.
