Rumors of Cena's involvement in The Suicide Squad have been floating around for some time, and he recently told TheWrap that being in the film “would be a tremendous opportunity for growth.” He then seemingly teased his involvement, saying, "You have to get everything buttoned up before you can make it official, I don’t want to say anything … I will just say that if that opportunity presents itself, then I will be very grateful to take it."

The Suicide Squad is a film surrounded with rumors. It was once thought that Idris Elba would be taking over Will Smith's role of Deadshot, though it was revealed Elba would be playing a different role. Bencio del Toro, who played the Collector in several MCU movies, is also rumored to have a role in The Suicide Squad.

Cena will be taking the place of Jeff Foxworthy as the host of Fox's Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader? He will also be joining the cast of Fast & Furious 9.
