The upcoming Peacemaker HBO Max show starring John Cena could see appearances from other members of The Suicide Squad cast.This prospect was teased by The Suicide Squad director and Peacemaker creator James Gunn on Twitter. In an earlier tweet, Gunn also divulged his motivations for doing a Peacemaker show. In response to a tweet that speculated the show was being made because Peacemaker was a stand-out character in The Suicide Squad, Gunn explained, "True. It's also DC coming to me & saying, 'If you could do a TV show about any character from The Suicide Squad, which one would you do 1st?' And I was like, 'I've been having this idea about #Peacemaker...' I'm always driven by what excites me most creatively in the moment."

All eight episodes of Peacemaker will be written and produced by James Gunn. The Suicide Squad executive producer Peter Safran will also produce while series star John Cena will serve as a co-executive producer. Gunn will also direct the show's pilot episode.

Written and produced by James Gunn, Peacemaker stars John Cena as the titular character. The series will release on HBO Max at an unspecified date. Production is set to begin in early 2021.
