Marvel Executive Editor and SVP of Publishing Tom Brevoort shared an early piece of fan art by renowned comic artist/writer John Byrne featuring the Fantastic Four doing battle with Galactus."John Byrne fan drawing of the Fantastic Four done in 1973 before he was a pro," said Brevoort of the image. Byrne eventually helmed a five-year-long run on the Fantastic Four comic series as its writer, penciler and inker. He also helped create some of Marvel's most popular characters, including Kitty Pryde/Shadowcat, Emma Frost, Sabretooth and Scott Lang.

Byrne would go on to create a series of comics for Dark Horse which included Next Men and Danger Unlimited. He also did the scripts for several issues of fellow Dark Horse creator Mike Mignola's series Hellboy. Other comic series featuring Byrne's work include The Uncanny X-Men, The Incredible Hulk, Superman, Indiana Jones and Iron Man.

Byrne won several awards over his career in comics, including the Eagle Award for Favourite Comic Book Artist and an Inkpot Award. He has also been added to the Canadian Comic Book Creator Hall of Fame as well as the Will Eisner Hall of Fame.
