The Star Wars films have seen powerful bonds form between castmates. John Boyega and his sequel trilogy co-stars are no exception to this. The actor has been vocal about his disappointment in the Lucasfilm franchise and its failure in handling characters of color.

While promoting his latest film, Small Axe, Boyega briefly discussed his GQ interview and how his castmates came to his support. "Full support, full support!" Boyega told Entertainment Tonight during a video interview. "To be fair, I'm really really close with my castmates, specifically Oscar and Daisy and myself and Kelly had really transparent and loving conversations that I'll never forget for the rest of my career."

Boyega went on to say that he had already discussed the situation with his castmates prior to his interview, so it didn't come as a surprise to them. However, he said that they did speak with him via text messages and that he had their support.

In his GQ interview in September, Boyega spoke frankly about his time on the Star Wars sequel trilogy and how he felt that Disney and Lucasfilm knew "fuck all" about writing for characters of color. He also made an impassioned speech at Hyde Park in London during a protest for the Black Lives Matter movement, saying he was willing to give up his career in the process.

Boyega's next project is the Netflix sci-fi film They Cloned Tyrone. He will star alongside Jamie Foxx and Teyonah Parris.
