Star Wars Sequel Trilogy star John Boyega will return for Daisy Ridley's upcoming Jedi-focused movie, if a new rumor is to be believed.

The rumor comes via established scoopers Jeff Sneider and John Rocha, who claimed that Boyega will reprise the Finn role in Ridley's as-yet-untitled film during a recent episode of their YouTube series, The Hot Mic. "Different sources have reached out to me because of this show and they have said to me that -- according to them and what they're hearing -- is that John Boyega will be coming back for this movie," Rocha said. "That's what I'm hearing from a couple of my sources and trusted people I know." Snieder then chimed in to remind Rocha that his own sources previously suggested that Boyega was indeed in talks with Lucasfilm to join the project, although these insiders suggested that the British actor was "resistant" to the idea. It's worth noting that Boyega is not officially attached to Ridley's unnamed Star Wars production, which means this rumor should be taken with a grain of salt for now.

Lucasfilm announced that Ridley was onboard to headline a new entry in the Star Wars franchise in April 2023. Little is known about the project at this stage, other than that it will chart the efforts of Rey Skywalker (Ridley) to rebuild the Jedi Order, 15 years after the events of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Two-time Academy Award winner Sharmeen Obaid-Chino will direct the project, working from a script by Steven Knight. Obaid-Chino and Knight replace Damon Lindelof and Justin Britt-Gibson, who exited the production in March 2023.

Lucasfilm Boss On Daisy Ridley's Star Wars Comeback

Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy discussed Ridley's Star Wars comeback in a recent interview, recalling how enthusiastic the English actor was to revisit the franchise's galaxy far, far away. "It was a pretty straightforward phone call," Kennedy said. "I started out by just saying, 'Hey, I think we're getting near being ready.' We've been talking a lot about what we're doing in the movie space and I said, 'I think we're getting close to being ready. How would you like to go to [Star Wars] Celebration?' That was really the beginning of it. She was out of her mind excited."

Kennedy also recently updated fans on the status of Ridley's Star Wars movie, confirming that the project is "pretty far along" in its development. The Lucasfilm boss went on to note that this impressive progress is due to her and Obaid-Chino having worked on the film "for a couple [of] years" before it was announced.

Lucasfilm's untitled, Rey-centric Star Wars movie does not yet have a release date.
