Joe and Anthony Russo have helped shape the Marvel Cinematic Universe in ways that will affect future installments to come. As directors of Captain America: The Winter SoldierCaptain America: Civil WarAvengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, neither Russo has unveiled which hero in the MCU has been involved in their favorite character arc -- until now.

Joe Russo revealed his favorite character arc has been Tony Stark, aka Iron Man, during an AMA session for Avengers: Endgame,

"At this point, we have been involved with just about every characters arc in the MCU. But in respect to all of the characters that aren't Cap, I think Tony's arc is incredibly tragic and unquantifiably heroic," Joe Russo responded. "As a father myself, contemplating the notion of being presented with the choice of saving the universe at the cost of losing your life, and knowing that your child would lose their father and that your wife would lose a husband, is painfully difficult to comprehend. It's a choice that only the greatest amongst us could make."

Joe Russo's answer shows the admiration and respect the the directors have for Tony Stark, especially when you consider his sacrifice in Avengers: Endgame:

The Russo Brothers finished their MCU tenure with Avengers: Endgame. The film earned 2.79 billion, beating Avatar as the highest-grossing film of all time.
