Comic book artist Joe Quinones called out Marvel for scrubbing his signature from a poster of Miss America/America Chavez, made from one of his comic book covers."Oh cool they made a poster of my cove--WHAT HAPPENED TO MY SIGNATURE, MARVEL???" Quinones said on Twitter, sharing an image of the poster in question, with a close-up image of a signature that had been partially erased. The poster is made from the cover of America Vol. 1: The Life and Times of America Chavez, written by Gabby Rivera and illustrated by Quinones.RELATED: Indie Comic Creators Refile Lawsuit Alleging Disney Stole Iron Man Armor Design

This prompted responses from other writers and artists, like current Nightwing artist for DC Comics Bruno Redondo, who said, "This is absolutely not cool, anti-cool." This is apparently not the first time Marvel has scrubbed an artist's signature from merchandise, with comic book artist Francesco Francavilla also responding to Quinones' Tweet with a similar story. "Yeah it's a thing- I found a T-shirt with my Shang-Chi cover and signature was gone," Francavilla said.

Jerry Ordway, a comic book writer and illustrator for DC Comics, shared a similar story as well. "They made big hardboard signs of my Adventures of Superman#424 cover, as well as school notebooks with the image, and of course scrubbed my signature. They do that," Ordway said.

Quinones, who currently serves as the artist for DC Comics' Batman '89, illustrated America Vol. 1: The Life and Times of America Chavez, cover included, which was first published by Marvel Comics in 2017. Rivera, Quinones, Jose Villarrubia, and Vc Travis Lanham served as the creative team for this America Chavez series and both the character and the cover are properties of Marvel.

At the time of writing, Marvel has not yet responded to Quinones.
