"I've been really moved over the years by the level of excitement Battle Chasers still generates decades after its original release," said Madureira. "With the success of the Battle Chasers game 'Nightwar' and a TV show in the works, it felt like the perfect time to drop some new books. Working with these characters again has healed some part of my soul, and Ludo's artwork is so incredible, I can't wait for readers to get their hands on it."

Battle Chasers #10 Finishes a Story That Began Over 20 Years Ago

Originally published under WildStorm's Cliffhanger imprint (which was founded by Madureira, Campbell and Ramos), Battle Chasers launched in 1998. Moving first to DC Comics for Battle Chasers #5-8 before finding its home at Image Comics in 2001, the series is set in a steampunk-influenced fantasy world and follows five different characters -- Garrison, Gully, Calibretto, Knolan, and Red Monika -- on quests involving dangerous villains and magical artifacts. Battle Chasers #10 was originally supposed to release shortly after the ninth issue; however, after multiple scheduling problems and delays, Madureira ultimately decided to leave the comics industry after forming a video game development company called Tri-Lunar alongside Tim Donley and Greg Peterson.

In 2019, Image Comics released The Battle Chasers Anthology which has had multiple reprints due to its popularity. Alcon Television Group also purchased the rights to the Battle Chasers series in 2021 and announced a television series was in the works from writer and executive producer Derek Kolstad, who is best known for creating the John Wick franchise.
