YouTuber and film critic John Campea has suggested that Jodie Comer will be playing Sue Storm/Invisible Woman in the Marvel Cinematic Universe Fantastic Four movie.

Campea made the claim during the Sept. 7 episode of The John Campea Show. "There's been one report going around that I want to throw a little bit of fuel on the fire," the film critic said before revealing that Killing Eve and Free Guy star Jodie Comer will likely be announced by Marvel Studios at D23 as part of the Fantastic Four cast in the role of Invisible Woman. He added that he has been hearing Comer's name attached to the role for the last two months, though he cautioned his viewers that he had also "heard other names for Sue Storm" during that time. However, Comer is seemingly the frontrunner for Invisible Woman and with Marvel's D23 panel slated for Saturday, Sept. 10, Marvel fans won't have to wait long to see if Campea's claim is correct.

Created by writer Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby, Sue Storm/Invisible Woman first appeared in The Fantastic Four #1, published by Marvel Comics in Nov. 1961. The character is notable for being a founding member of the Fantastic Four and for being the first female superhero created by Marvel during the Silver Age of Comic Books. After being exposed to a cosmic storm, Sue received the ability to create force fields and turn herself invisible. The character has been adapted several times in animation and was previously portrayed in live-action by Jessica Alba in two Fantastic Four films released in 2005 and 2007 and by Kate Mara in 2015's Fantastic Four.

Marvel's First Family Joins the MCU

Marvel Studios first announced the Fantastic Four reboot in December 2020 and revealed during San Diego Comic-Con 2022 that the film would kick off Phase 6 of the MCU. No casting has been confirmed at this time for the film, which has allowed Marvel fans to theorize who might be cast as Marvel's First Family as well as throw out suggestions for who they'd like to see cast as the titular team. Some actors who remain high on fans' wishlists include You's Penn Badgley and The Office's John Krasinski as Dr. Reed Richard/Mister Fantastic and Jurassic World's Bryce Dallas Howard and Top Gun: Maverick's Glen Powell as siblings Sue and Johnny Storm/Human Torch, respectively. Krasinski previously portrayed the Earth-838 variant of Mister Fantastic in 2022's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but has remained coy on if he will return as the official MCU version (which takes place on Earth-616) of the character.
