Joann Sfar To Adapt Little Vampire

French cartoonist turned filmmaker Joann Sfar will direct a 3D-animated adaptation of his bestselling children's graphic novel Little Vampire Goes to School.

Variety reports that Sfar, whose adaptation of his comic series The Rabbi's Cat premiered last week, will team with French production company StudioCanal on the English-language feature.

Published in North America by First Second Books, Little Vampire centers on a pint-sized vampire who lives in a house filled with aged monsters. Missing the companionship of other children, Little Vampire helps a human orphan who's behind on his homework, and the two become friends. You can read a preview on the publisher's website.

StudioCanal, Sfar and Antoine Delesvaux's Paris-based Autochenille are co-developing and and co-producing the adaptation.
