Recently, a fan petition was launched on Change.org calling for Marvel Studios to cast J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson for its upcoming Spider-Man film. At last weekend's Film Independent Spirit Awards, Entertainment Tonight caught up with the actor, asking if he was aware of the petition, and whether he'd like to reprise the role for Marvel.

"Doing those movies with Sam was one of the great joys of my career," Simmons told Entertainment Tonight, after making sure it was known that he has no involvement with the petition. "It was a super fun character so I -- I'll never close the door on anything."

Though critical reaction to Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy was mixed, one thing most reviewers and fans alike enjoyed in every installment was Simmons' take on the classic Spidey nemesis.

In addition to portraying the live-action incarnation of the Daily Bugle publisher, Simmons provides Jameson's voice in Disney XD and Marvel Animation's current cartoon universe.
