Hirohiko Araki’s JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is heralded as one of the most inventive and addictive anime series of all time, with each new chapter expanding the sprawling JoJo saga in rewarding ways. JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is always looking forward and its sixth major story, Stone Ocean, reflects a seismic shift as the series’ first female protagonist, Jolyne Cujoh, finds herself wrongfully convicted of a lengthy prison sentence.

Jolyne’s journey, her growing independence, and her reunion with her father are all highlights of the series, but Stone Ocean also features a number of powerful new Stands. Stone Ocean’s main characters are blessed with some highly creative Stands, but some are more useful than others.

10 Emporio Alnino's Burning Down The House Is The Ultimate Hideout

Manga JoJos Bizarre Adventure Burning Down The House Ghost Room Stand

Stone Ocean’s Emporio Alnino feels like an anomaly in every regard, whether it’s his unusual baseball outfit, grim backstory, or how his Stand, Burning Down the House, operates. Some Stands contain incredibly physical strength, but Burning Down the House is more of a defensive maneuver, much like Golden Wind’s hideout turtle, Coco Jumbo. Burning Down the House manifests as a secret ghost room that can act as pocket dimension for individuals. Its use can be very niche, but Burning Down the House becomes a strange temporary home for Emporio, Weather Report, and Narciso at various points.

9 Narciso Anasui's Diver Down Doesn’t Let Matter Get Him Down

Diver Down from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure.

Narciso Anasui is one of Jolyne Cujoh's greatest allies in Stone Ocean, but he's an enigmatic and reckless character who holds an obsessive torch for his female friend. Anasui's Diver Down is one of the more standard Stands and it feels reminiscent of several previous powers. Diver Down can phase both himself, as well as Anasui, through objects in order to confuse them and escape harm. Diver Down's phasing powers also apply to other humans and it can shift into someone else's body for the purpose of absorbing damage and reducing harm.

8 Ermes Costello's Kiss Uses Stickers For Explosive Results

Manga JoJos Bizarre Adventure Kiss Stand

Some Stands can be incredibly useful for one big set piece or battle, only to then struggle to justify their existence. Kiss is an entertaining Stand that’s controlled by Ermes Costello, yet it never feels like it gets a chance to properly come into its own. Kiss is a Stand with a compelling gimmick that revolves around stickers, of all things.

These flashy adhesives may not look like much, but Kiss perfectly duplicates the object that they’re placed on until their removal. Furthermore, this disruption will cause Kiss’ duplicate and the original to viciously collide, damaging them in the process.

7 Jolyne Cujoh's Stone Free Allows Her To Unravel And Thrive

Jolyne Cujoh from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean.

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is unique in the sense that the main character of each new chapter in the series doesn’t always have the most practical Stand. Jolyne Cujoh isn’t aware that she’s a Stand user at the start of Stone Ocean and she experiences quite a trial by fire once Stone Free gets activated in her. Stone Free makes use of a very fresh Stand design where both the Stand and Jolyne can unravel themselves into elastic strands. This can be a tremendous asset in a confined environment like a prison, but it also makes Jolyne excellent at evasion.

6 Foo Fighters Uses The Power Of Plankton In Versatile Ways

Manga JoJos Bizarre Adventure Foo Fighters Stand

Hirohiko Araki has endless creativity when it comes to different Stand powers, designs, and backstory. Stone Ocean features some of the more creative Stands from the series and Foo Fighters is quite the anomaly since some could consider it to be a sentient Stand with no user. Foo Fighters, or F.F., is a living collection of plankton that uses its plankton mass – either individually or as a group – to attack others, seal up wounds, or even take control of somebody else’s body. Foo Fighters is introduced through Atroe, but she’s actually the corpse of a prisoner that F.F. has reanimated.

5 Jotaro Kujo's Star Platinum: The World Has Grown Into A Phenomenal Showstopper

Anime JoJos Bizarre Adventure Star Platinum The World Stand

The generational aspect of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is one of the series’ most rewarding qualities. Stone Ocean shifts its perspective to sassy female, Jolyne Cujoh, but her estranged father, Jotaro Kujo, also returns in a vital way. Jotaro Kujo develops an incredible Stand in Stardust Crusaders, which returns in Diamond is Unbreakable.

It’s revealed that over time, Jotaro’s talents have weakened and Star Platinum: The World can only distill time for 1-2 seconds. However, in Stone Ocean Jotaro is able to push Star Platinum: The World to its limits and return the Stand’s strength to a five-second duration.

4 Weather Report Isn’t Afraid To Rain On Anyone’s Parade

Manga JoJos Bizarre Adventure Weather Report Stand

Weather Report is technically Domenico Pucci's powerful Stand, but due to the character's aggressive amnesia, Domenico adopts the moniker Weather Report for himself. The key to Weather Report's true identity and past plays a major factor in Stone Ocean's final act. The Stand, Weather Report, can manipulate weather at will, which can be taken advantage of in many different ways. However, Weather Report also has an additional power known as Heavy Weather that transforms people into snails and is one of the most dangerous attacks that get launched in Stone Ocean. Heavy Weather devastates Florida's population.

3 Father Enrico Pucci's Whitesnake Can Extract Vital Information

Manga JoJos Bizarre Adventure Whitesnake

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is quite careful with the introduction of villains and it usually takes time for the ultimate evil to emerge. Stone Ocean’s Jolyne faces constant obstacles, but Father Enrico Pucci eventually serves as not just the biggest threat, but someone who had very close ties to DIO. Pucci is fortunate to have a Stand that experiences significant changes, but its original state, Whitesnake, is still quite destructive. Whitesnake is where the whole Stand and Memory Disc concepts come from and Pucci can use Whitesnake to not only remove these traits from people, but insert them into others.

2 Pucci's Evolved C-Moon Is A Gravitational Nightmare

Manga JoJos Bizarre Adventure C-Moon Stand

Enrico Pucci is one of the most resilient villains to show up in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. He's such a challenge for Jolyne and company because his original Stand begins to evolve in frightening ways after he brings more elements of his "new world" plan together. Whitesnake is already dangerous, but once the Stand turns into C-Moon, it seems to fully have Jolyne and Jotaro overwhelmed. C-Moon allows Pucci to manipulate gravity in extreme ways, whether it’s through the reversal of gravity or just disruptions from whatever C-Moon touches. This leaves Pucci’s enemies with little recourse.

1 Made In Heaven Is The Apex Of Stone Ocean And Threatens Reality

Manga JoJos Bizarre Adventure Made In Heaven Stand Attack

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure knows how to go out on a major spectacle and the final battles against enemy Stands often feature seemingly impossible threats. Stone Ocean has one of the boldest conclusions in the entire series as Enrico Pucci’s Stand continues to develop from C-Moon into Made in Heaven, and it seems as if he’ll be able to carry out DIO’s master plan. Made in Heaven is a Stand that can speed up time, but administers this power to such an intense degree that it literally results in the end of the universe and a new alternate reality being born.
