The Marvel Cinematic Universe incarnation of Jimmy Woo is already dealing with some bizarre forces, especially with his role in WandaVision. But the Marvel Universe of the character faced his fair share of unexpected threats, including one of modern fiction's most distinct and powerful monsters.

When Marvel published Godzilla in the 1970s, Jimmy Woo ended up joining the Godzilla Squad alongside fellow SHIELD agents Dum Dum Dugan and Gabe Jones in Godzilla: King of the Monsters by Doug Moench, Herb Trimpe, Dan Green and Jim Novak.

As one of the most dangerous creatures in modern fiction, Godzilla is a towering radioactive reptile, nominally amplified by the nuclear bomb tests conducted in the decades after World War II. Godzilla has a somewhat tenuous relationship with the Marvel Universe, with the character sometimes being referred to as "Leviathan" to avoid legal issues. The beast was nominally born thanks to the experiments of Doctor Yuriko Takiguchi, a brilliant Japanese Scientist who became an expert on the creature. Godzilla is never portrayed as an outright malicious creature in this form, but rather a wild and unpredictable animal, even displaying a surprising amount of cunning on occasion.

After being frozen for an unknown amount of time, Godzilla found himself near the Alaskan shore. Finally breaking free of his icy prison, Godzilla quickly makes his way through the state, tearing apart oil lines and causing bedlam everywhere he went. As Godzilla marched throughout the United States, a S.H.I.E.L.D. team was assembled to confront and contain the monster. Quickly dubbed the Godzilla Squad, the group was led by S.H.I.E.L.D. veteran Dum-Dum Duggan (under the direct command of Nick Fury), who quickly recruited agents Jimmy Woo and Gabe Jones for the mission. They also bring on Takiguchi, who comes with his grandson Robert and his assistant Tamara, who Woo develops romantic feelings for. Woo proves to be crucial in the battles against Godzilla, his quick wit often saving lives.

The battles against Godzilla take the team all across the country, with the monster rampaging through multiple cities. S.H.I.E.L.D. spares no expense in trying to bring him down, giving the group a near-limitless amount of resources and weapons. This includes special helicarriers, a massive robotic armor known as the Red Ronin, and numerous other inventions that Woo and his allies fruitlessly used to take down the creature. Ultimately, Godzilla makes his way to New York City and overcomes a number of potential means of defeat -- including being shrunken by Pym Particles, confronted by the Avengers and even briefly being sent to another reality.

Eventually, the Godzilla Squad is somewhat successful -- with Robert using his close bond with the creature to convince it to retreat back into the ocean and away from the battle. Godzilla would become a semi-recurring figure in the Marvel Universe, often manipulated against its will and known exclusively as Leviathan after Marvel lost the rights to Godzilla. The villainous Doctor Demonicus captured it and mutated it to leave only traces of Godzilla's iconic design and unleashed it against the Avengers once more. Godzilla has come up against the heroic team multiple times, even once combating a robotic duplicate of Devil Dinosaur. The creature was even seemingly killed by the X-Men during the Decimation period, with Archangel flying into his mouth and using his razor-sharp wings to attack the creature's spinal column directly.

But if the Marvel Godzilla is anything like the creature featured in the Toho films, then it's unlikely the creature will remain dead forever. It's only a matter of time before Godzilla is restored in some form, and Jimmy Woo is the perfect figure to combat it if -- and when -- that happens. Now the leader of the Agents of Atlas, Woo has the right experience and skill-set to contend with such a creature.
