Jimmy Fallon and Mindy Kaling Land Sitcoms at NBC and Fox

As one television season winds down, the next is being carefully unspooled by the networks. As we've already learned, Fox renewed Touch, and canceled Alcatraz and The Finder, but that's only the beginning as we head into next week's upfront presentations.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fox has given a series order to It's Messy, a half-hour comedy from The Office writer/actress Mindy Kaling. She'll be leaving The Office to executive produce, write and star in the new series about a doctor trying to balance her professional and personal lives. The Office producers Howard Klein and B.J. Novak will also produce this sitcom, which co-stars Ed Weeks, Chris Messina, Zoe Jarmon, Anna Camp and Dana DeLorenzo. The pilot also features guest spots by Ed Helms, Bill Hader and Richard Schiff.

Meanwhile, THR also reported that NBC pulled the trigger on the Jimmy Fallon-produced sitcom Guys With Kids. The series revolves around a trio of guys in their 30s dealing with fatherhood even though they still feel like kids themselves. The dads are played by Anthony Anderson, Jesse Bradford and Zach Cregger with Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Tempestt Bledsoe and Sara Rue playing their female counterparts.
