Jim Lee has revealed the pencils for his variant cover for Action Comics #1000.The DC Comics publisher drew the cover on his Twitch stream Wednesday night, and it will be inked and colored ahead of the comics' release next month. While many of the issue's covers will honor the history of Superman, Lee's will spotlight the present and future of the character.

Noticeable in the variant cover is the new villain Rogol Zaar, who will be introduced into Superman comics by new writer Brian Michael Bendis. The alien menace is said to have some kind of connection to Krypton before the planet was destroyed. He is presented as the main villain the Bendis' five-issue The Man of Steel mini-series that will see publication in the month of June.

Going on sale April 18, Action Comics #1000 marks the DC Comics debut of writer Brian Michael Bendis. He’s joined in the special issue by a creative lineup that include Superman director Richard Donner, Geoff Johns, Paul Dini, Jim Lee, Peter J. Tomasi, Patrick Gleason, José Luis García-López, Tom King, Clay Mann, Jordie Bellaire, Brad Meltzer, John Cassaday, Laura Martin, Louise Simonson, Jerry Ordway, Scott Snyder and Tim Sale.
