DC Publisher and Chief Creative Officer Jim Lee revealed a long-lost tribute that was created for comic book legend and founding father of Marvel Comics Stan Lee.The sketch was shared by Jim on Dec. 28 in honor of Stan's birthday and was originally created for a 2005 interview conducted by Kevin Smith for Rolling Stone.RELATED: Jim Lee Brings Holiday Cheer With Free Sketches for Essential Workers

The image features a gigantic Stan resembling something close to Marvel's Galactus, with arms stretched out in a looming pose -- one that loses all menace as it features Stan's famous ear-to-ear smile.

Several other characters are featured in the sketch, including two roughly drawn comic book heroes and a terrified Silent Bob, one of Smith's well-known creations.

In his tweet, Jim discussed the nature of the sketch and how it came to be, referring to how the original drawing never made it past the layout stage of production and humorously mentioned that maybe the Rolling Stone editor in charge at the time "didn't care for it?"

Jim also mentioned his "fondest birthday wishes to Stan the Man who we all miss dearly..."
