DC Comics' Jim Lee has been sketching a multitude of DC heroes to support brick and mortar comic book stores. Recently, however, the publisher decided to go beyond his 60-day charity auction to benefit another charity.
A detailed sketch of Batman appeared on auction through the CH Cares website. The 11x17" Batman sketch is currently on the site, with current bids of over $11,000 at the time of writing. The illustration shows the Dark Knight standing on top of a cave ready for action with his cape flowing. The atmosphere is enhanced by groups of bats flying towards and around him against a full moon. The proceeds will benefit members of the Campell Hall Church that are experiencing financial difficulties due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
This drawing marks the first time Lee has sketched for a charitable organization besides the BINC Foundation during the coronavirus outbreak. Lee has been diligently creating sketches featuring characters such as Huntress, Deathstroke, Victor Zsasz and many more for fans and collectors to bid on.
In addition to drawing himself, the DC publisher has recruited comics artists such as Arthur Adams, Tony Daniel, Ivan Reis and Bryan Hitch to create sketches for his auction.
