Jim Lee's Detective Comics #1000 Variant Covers Are Stellar

With the upcoming release of Detective Comics #1000, DC is putting out a significant number of variant covers from various famous artists. DC Comics Co-Publisher and Chief Creative Officer Jim Lee is among those artists.

Inker Scott Williams posted images of the cover he's doing with Lee to Twitter. "Detective 1000 variant by [Jim Lee] and [Scott Williams] for [Album Comics]. Jim can draw a little bit." The cover shows Batman facing off against longtime foe Bane. The cover is for Album Comics, a Parisian comics shop. There will be a limited run of 2500 books using this variant. Additional variants for Album Comics from Lee and Williams feature Harley Quinn and Catwoman.

Williams tweeted another variant he worked on with Lee earlier this month. That one, which is exclusive to Torpedo Comics in Las Vegas, features Batman about to strike a very classic looking version of the Joker. Torpedo Comics has since put up the final look of the variant, which will be limited to 2500 color and 1000 black and whites prints.

DC Comics will also release variant covers for the book from the likes of Bill Sienkiewicz, Steve Rude, Michael Cho, Jim Steranko, Bernie Wrightson, Frank Miller, Nicola Scott, Tim Sale, Jock, Greg Capullo, Alex Ross and Bruce Timm.
