DC Comics' Chief Creative Officer Jim Lee unveiled a new Stargirl drawing in honor of her show's commitment to bringing the Justice Society of America and DC's Golden Age to life.Lee shared his Stargirl artwork in a Twitter thread, which features Stargirl and her Cosmic Staff posing alongside S.T.R.I.P.E. and Eclipso, the major villain of Season 2. "For fans of the show, you already know that @stargirl_cw is not just an action-packed, fun, often poignant look at the life of Courtney Whitmore and her struggles adjusting to a new life in the seemingly perfect suburbs of Blue Valley, Nebraska, but that the show really is a deep dive into the Golden Age—the earliest era of DC mythology!," he wrote. "For her new stepdad (played to earnest perfection by Luke Wilson) is not just her new role model in life but a former superhero sidekick who comes into his own heroic identity at S.T.R.I.P.E. who once worked with the iconic Justice Society of America & also the Seven Soldiers of Victory! And now Courtney has to negotiate all the ups & downs of being the new leader of the JSA as Stargirl!"RELATED: Stargirl's Focus on Family & Friendship Sets the Show Apart

On what he loved most about the show, Lee praised its ability to incorporate classic costumes and iconography from various Golden Age comics into a live-action format. "As a longtime fan of the JSA, it's great seeing writer/producers Geoff Johns and James Robinson bringing their love & knowledge of these legendary characters as they have introduced the modern incarnations of Wildcat, Hourman, Dr. Mid-nite, and Thunderbolt!" he continued. "The show's Stunt Coordinator Walter Garcia does an amazing job of bringing to life the dynamic powers of all its heroes & villains using both practical & digital effects, especially when it comes to creating the amazing, unique fighting style that is Stargirl's!"

Debuting in 1999's Stars and S.T.R.I.P.E., Courtney would eventually take on the Stargirl moniker in 2003's JSA: All Stars #4. The character made some animated appearances in Justice League: Unlimited, Batman: The Brave and the Bold and Justice League: Action, as well as live-action portrayals on Smallville and DC's Legends of Tomorrow before Brec Bassinger was cast as Stargirl's lead. The show follows Courtney as she tries to reform the JSA with Pat and her high-school classmates to defeat members of the Injustice Society, who have since become parents and faculty members in Blue Valley.
