For the latest addition to his 60 Sketches in 60 Days event, DC Comics Publisher and Chief Creative Officer Jim Lee offered a sinister version of Black Mask.Available on Lee's eBay page, the Black Mask drawing shows the DC villain holding a smoking gun as Batman looms in the background. It is currently going for $5,700, with two days of bidding left. "Sketch 38! As chosen by the high bidder of Hawkgirl is Batman's foe: the BLACK MASK! Pen ink & whiteout on 9x12" board," Lee captioned his Black Mask sketch. "3 day auction w/proceeds going to benefit comic shops via Binc Foundation. Winner of this auction chooses the next DC character I draw!"
Over the last few weeks, Lee has auctioned sketches to benefit the Book Industry Charitable Foundation, which is aiding comic book stores affected by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. In addition to Lee, several other famed comic book artists have offered sketches for auction, all of which are available on Lee's eBay page. Current character sketches available on the page include a Spawn drawing by Philip Tan and a Silk Spectre drawing by Lee.
Black Mask/Roman Sionis is a villain that first appeared in 1986's Batman #386 as created by Doug Moench and
Tom Mandrake. The character was recently portrayed in the Birds of Prey film by Ewan McGregor.
