In preparation for the third annual New York Comic Con, Jim Hanley's Universe, New York's premiere comic book retailer, has put together its biggest week of in-store creator appearances ever! With representatives from Marvel Comics, DC Comic, Dark Horse, Image Comics and many other publishers, Hanley's promises seven days like none in New York City's comic fandom history.

On Monday, April 14th, Hanley's welcomes four of the biggest stars in the Marvel Universe; Brian Michael Bendis (Secret Invasion), Jeph Loeb (Hulk), Ed Brubaker (Captain America) and Matt Fraction (Punisher War Journal). With 11 Eisner Awards and 14 top selling books between them, this quartet of writers dominates the comic industry like none other. With special guest, editor Jen Grunwald, fans can meet these incredible creators from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

Then on Wednesday, April 16th, Jim Hanley's Universe welcomes five-time Eisner Award and two-time Harvey Award winner, Darwyn Cooke, for his second in-store appearance. Cooke is known to fans for his work on Batman Beyond, Batman: Ego, Catwoman, DC: The New Frontier and its recent animated adaptation, and most recently, a 12-issue run on Will Eisner's The Spirit and both devotees and creators as "an artist's artist." Cooke will be appearing from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

On Thursday, April 17th, JHU "gets in on the action" by hosting the creative team of the new Captain Action revival. A popular toy line in the 60's, Captain Action has been long absent from comics, but now he's back and starring in a new comic published by Moonstone Books. Writer Fabian Nicieza, artist Mark Sparacio and cover artist Ruben Procopio will be on hand to sign Captain Action #0 from 6:30 to 8:30 PM.

On Friday, April 18th, Hanley's welcomes writer, Mark Evanier, in celebration of his new book, Kirby: King of Comics. Evanier, an Emmy Award nominee, is known in comic fandom as the co-writer of Groo, the hilarious barbarian satire and is currently co-writing Will Eisner's The Spirit with Groo creator, Sergio Aragones. He was Jack Kirby's longtime assistant, and he's the world's foremost authority on "The King of Comics." Evanier will be signing from 7:00 to 9:00 PM.

On Saturday, April 19th, Jim Hanley's Universe welcomes cartoonist, Ariel Schrag. Schrag is the author of the autobiographical comic books Potential, which was nominated for an Eisner Award, and Likewise, which document her life in high school. Schrag was a writer for the Showtime series The L Word for seasons 3 and 4. She will be signing books and having a Q&A session beginning at 7:30 PM.

And finally, on Monday, April 21st, Hanley's winds down the weeklong festivities with four of the hottest up-and-coming creators in the comic industry; Rick Remender (Fear Agent), Tony Moore (The Walking Dead), Salgood Sam (Therefore Repent!) and Greg Thompson (Sinbad: Rogue of Mars). This quartet will be signing from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
