Mark Russell, Richard Pace and Leonard Kirk's Second Coming: Only Begotten Son arrives in trade paperback next week from Ahoy Comics. As such, CBR is providing an exclusive preview of the entire first issue from the collection.

"Second Coming: Only Begotten Son gave us the chance to expand on the world and characters introduced in Volume I," Russell said. "As in life, there is no such thing as a minor character, so we really wanted to add depth to everyone's stories. This is a universe that needs to expand horizontally even as the story moves forward."

"It was great getting to return to the series and explore more of this world," Pace added. "Seeing all those gorgeous pages finished by Leonard and Andy is worth the ride on its own. I'm still hoping we get to do Sunstar beating up God for letting his home planet get blown up, or a crossover with either the X-Men or Garfield in volume three."

Editor Tom Payer noted that "Second Coming is funny, a bit challenging, and larger-than-life—qualities that make it a perfect fit for AHOY Comics. It also contains very strong notes of empathy and kindness, which we do not endorse."

Second Coming: Only Begotten Son is the follow-up to Second Coming. Originally slated to be published by DC, the book's satirical approach to Christianity drew controversy, and the project was eventually moved to Ahoy.
