Production on the highly-anticipated second season of Marvel and Netflix's "Jessica Jones" finally kicked off this week, and -- although news surrounding it has been relatively quiet -- it appears we may know of at least one character who will return alongside series star Krysten Ritter. Actor Wil Traval, who played Will Simpson in the show's first season, Tweeted about his trip to New York, which may mean that his character will return for the show's second season.

Flying to #nyc tomorrow morning, can't wait to see old friends and get me a slice #pizza #NewYork #love

Traval's trip to New York coincides with the start of filming on "Jessica Jones" Season 2, so his timing is probably more than a coincidence. When a fan asked him directly whether he was headed to film on the series, he coyly responded:

@EdHennes @JessicaJones I'm going for the ?

Of course, while this isn't quite a confirmation, the idea of Traval's Simpson returning isn't entirely surprising. His character is based off of the "Daredevil" and "Captain America" villain Nuke -- who, in the comics, is actually named Frank Simpson -- but his character never truly transitioned into Nuke during season one. Nevertheless, there were plenty hints of what's to come in the form of his stimulant pills: one blue, the other red.

With "Jessica Jones'" Season 2 villain is still unknown at this point, taking Simpson from merely an unstable man to a full-on villain like Nuke seems like a plausible direction for the writers to go in the upcoming season.

Based on the Marvel Comics character created by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Gaydos, “Jessica Jones” stars Krysten Ritter as the troubled super-powered private investigator. The second season is expected to air in 2018.
