Jessica Jones has finally wrapped production on its second season, merely five months after it began. It usually takes a little longer (six months) for Marvel Television and Netflix to shoot the streaming service's superhero series.

Both Krysten Ritter, who plays the titular character, and newcomer Diane Gibson took to social media to celebrate the completion of production for the Netflix series.

Despite having his neck snapped at the end of the first season, David Tennant's Kilgrave is also returning in some capacity for the upcoming season. Recent set photos show Tennant tormenting not only Jessica Jones, but also supporting character Malcolm.

In late 2016, showrunner Melissa Rosenberg delivered a keynote speech in which she announced that all 13 episodes will be directed by women. There's no word on when Jessica Jones Season 2 will be released on the streaming service, though a late 2018 release sounds achievable.

Based on the Marvel Comics character created by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Gaydos, Jessica Jones stars Krysten Ritter as the troubled, superpowered private investigator.

Ritter was last seen as the character in Marvel's The Defenders, which is out now on Netflix.
