"Jessica Jones" star Krysten Ritter isn’t even done filming the first season of Netflix’s “The Defenders,” but she’s already eager to start working on the sequel. The miniseries will bring together the leads of Netflix’s other Marvel superhero shows -- “Daredevil,” “Luke Cage” and "Iron Fist" -- for one big ensemble team-up, and Ritter says that's just fine with her.
“It’s fun to see their work, how they work, what their style is, what the integrity of their characters are,” Ritter told Entertainment Weekly. “We’re all so invested in our characters that everybody just wants everything to be great.”
As for the upcoming Netflix series, Ritter says the work load has been more manageable than when she starred in “Jessica Jones,” where she was effectively in every scene. In fact, she called her new schedule for her role in “The Defenders” "kind of a dream job."
“If they want to do a 'Defenders 2,' I’m in,” she added.
Netflix’s adaptation of “The Defenders” will bring together the heroes Jessica Jones, Daredevil, Luke Cage and Iron Fist to thwart the villains of New York City, but the team’s comic book debut had quite a different lineup. Introduced in 1971 and created by Roy Thomas and Ross Andru, the comic book version of the Defenders originally consisted of Doctor Strange, Hulk, Namor and—later—Silver Surfer. A new “The Defenders” comic series will debut later this year with a team that mirrors the Netflix lineup.
Premiering this summer on Netflix, “Marvel’s The Defenders” stars Charlie Cox, Krysten Ritter, Mike Colter, Finn Jones, Elodie Yung, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Carrie-Anne Moss, Eka Darville, Rosario Dawson, Rachael Taylor and Scott Glenn.
