Variety reports that Marvel Television and Netflix have given the Krysten Ritter-starring series another 13-episode order. After the rave reviews of season one, it’s not terribly surprising that the networks would take the same route with their super-powered detective story as they did with their super-powered blind lawyer one. However, “Daredevil” was renewed within weeks of its release, while it’s taken almost two months for “Jessica Jone” to get picked up. (It’s possible, however, that Netflix was just waiting for the winter Televisions Critics Association media tour to make things official.)
Released in November of last year, “Jessica Jones” also stared Mike Colter as Luke Cage, a role he’s reprising for his own currently-filming spinoff series. It’s unknown when “Jessica Jones” season two will air, but it could theoretically happen before the end of 2016; “Daredevil” season two premieres March 18, just under a year after season one was revealed.
With both “Daredevil” and “Jessica Jones” going into season two and “Luke Cage” in front of cameras, the only solo show left in Marvel and Netflix’s deal to get started is “Iron Fist” before all four heroes join forces in “The Defenders.”
UPDATE: The series’ official twitter account has tweeted out a teaser image announcing the renewal. Check it out below.
