Starring Matt Damon, director Ridley Scott's The Martian should already have your attention, if only for the marquee names involved, and the film's premise of an astronaut struggling to survive on the surface of Mars.

Now, here's another reason to keep your eye on The Martian: the potential involvement of high-profile actresses Jessica Chastain and Kristen Wiig. Deadline reports the Interstellar and Bridesmaids stars are circling the lead female roles.

Will both actresses make it into the film? That's a matter of some debate. Variety only mentions Chastain in its report, and even Deadline's account mentions that "Chastain seems likelier than Wiig to be set for the film." But Deadline also mentions "lead female roles," plural, indicating there's a possible spot for Wiig in addition to Chastain. We'll see as news develops.

The Martian is set for release Nov. 25, 2015.
