Following months of speculation, Oscar nominee Jessica Chastain has been confirmed to be in talks for a starring role in It: Chapter 2.
According to Variety, Chastain is would play the adult Beverly Marsh in the sequel to the hit 2017 adaptation of Stephen King's novel. The younger version of the character was played by Sophia Lillis. Director Andy Muschietti, who's set to return for the sequel, previously mentioned that Chastain was his top pick for the role.
The second chapter of It will adapted the latter half of King's novel of the same name, and follow the characters in their adult years. The story will depict the group's second encounter with the horrific Pennywise. While no other actors, besides Pennywise actor Bill Skarsgård, have been announced for the sequel, it's expected the child stars from the first installment will return.
Premiering in September, It earned $700.4 million, becoming the highest-grossing horror movie and third-highest grossing R-rated film of all time. The sequel is scheduled for release on Sept. 6, 2019.
It stars Bill Skarsgård as Pennywise, Finn Wolfhard, Jaeden Lieberher, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Sophia Lillis, Jack Dylan Grazer, Chosen Jacobs, Wyatt Oleff, Nicholas Hamilton, Owen Teague and Logan Thompson.
