NBC's remake of The Munsters, now known as Mockingbird Lane, isn't even on the network's schedule yet, but it's still making news. TVLine reports that Jerry O'Connell (Sliders, The Defenders) would be starring as family patriarch (and Frankenstein's monster) Herman Munster. O'Connell joins Eddie Izzard and Mason Cook, who signed on to play Grandpa Munster and Eddie (Herman and his wife Lily's werewolf son), respectively.

The series, shepherded by Pushing Daisies creator Bryan Fuller and producer Bryan Singer, has gone through lots of changes since it was originally pitched a few seasons back. Mockingbird Lane was intended to make its debut this upcoming season, but NBC shied away. In recent interviews, Fuller has described the show as "an American Harry Potter" as well as "Real Housewives of Transylvania," as opposed to the goofy sitcom presented in the 1960s.
