Leading up to Jeremy Renner's snowplow-related accident, the Marvel Cinematic Universe star was helping out an unknown individual who was stuck on account of the severe weather.

Speaking to the Reno Gazette Journal, Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve clarified the nature of the incident that saw Renner being airlifted to the local hospital. "He was helping someone stranded in the snow," Schieve said. "He is always helping others." She went on to state that Renner has been a respected member of the community, noting that the actor has often lent his assistance to those in need. "There are a few times he’ll post about what he has done or donated toys, but most of it you would never know he is doing," Schieve said.

This is the latest update on Renner's snowplow accident which occurred on Jan. 1, 2023. The incident saw the Hawkeye star trampled underneath his personal Snowcat vehicle as he sought to clear out a shelf of snow that had formed in front of his house. Renner suffered severe physical trauma to his leg and torso as well as major blood loss; paramedics were immediately called to the scene. After a neighbor helped tourniquet his leg, he was flown to a hospital and underwent surgery. The nature of the operation is currently unknown but Renner did share an image of himself recovering, sending his gratitude to his fans and followers for their support. "Thank you all for your kind words. I'm too messed up now to type. But I send love to you all," Renner wrote. At the time of writing, the actor's condition is still critical but stable.

Renner's Dedicated Supporters

In the days following the accident, many individuals voiced their support for Renner and wished him a swift recovery. These include his MCU co-star Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans and Chris Pratt. Renner's family similarly released their own statement on the incident also thanking fans for their ongoing concern. "Jeremy’s family would like to express their gratitude to the incredible doctors and nurses looking after him, Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue, Washoe County Sheriff, Reno City Mayor Hillary Schieve and the Carano and Murdock families. They are also tremendously overwhelmed and appreciative of the outpouring of love and support from his fans."

More updates on Renner's condition will likely be released in the coming weeks.
