There's at least one Avenger who doesn't want a film all to himself.
“I’m happy to be the ensemble," Jeremy Renner, who reprises his role as Hawkeye in the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron, told MTV. "I’m not scratching or clawing to do a solo movie by any means."
The two-time Oscar nominee immediately followed that comment by seemingly confirming his role in another Marvel film. "I think he’s a utility guy that can bounce around into other people’s universes a little bit, especially like Cap 3," he added.
That's certainly more than we got last month about a possible appearance in the untitled 2016 Captain America sequel, when Renner claimed to not know "what’s going to happen there," and directors Anthony and Joe Russo dodged the question. “There are certainly characters that Cap is close to or has a strong relationship with that would make sense appearing in his films,” Joe Russo said. “I think that’s all we can say about it.” This hints at the solid relationship Cap and Hawkeye have had for decades in the comics.
In 2012, Renner expressed disappointment in the way his character was handled in The Avengers. Between his upcoming appearance in Avengers: Age of Ultron and the potential part in Cap 3, hopefully the actor and fans will be more satisfied.
Captain America 3 opens May 6, 2016.
