You'd think joining the cast of Mission: Impossible and The Avengers would be enough iconic roles for an actor, but not Jeremy Renner. Rumor has it, he has an even more long-lived role in his sights.

Empire relays the news Renner apparently told a Norwegian journalist at the Venice Film Festival that he was up for the role of Hansel in the Will Ferrell-produced horror comedy Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, with Noomi Rapace, star of the original Girl With The Dragon Tattoo movie adaptation, as Gretel. The movie, set 15 years after the fairy tale and with the titular characters grown up and out for revenge against magical crones both old and young, is being written by Dead Snow's Tommy Wirkola, who'll also direct. Weirdly enough, I can completely see Renner as a believable Hansel. Here's hoping this happens.
