Jeremy Renner has teased the return of Hawkeye in a new photo as reshoots continue on Marvel's Avengers 4. Although the highly anticipated sequel is due in theaters in just eight months, work continues in Atlanta on additional photography.

The current reshoots will apparently finish production on the follow-up to Avengers: Infinity War. Renner's absence from the 2017 blockbuster may have been disappointing to Hawkeye fans, but the actor reminds them he's indeed back in action.

The behind-the-scenes photo arrives only days after Renner teased he was stretching to get back into shape for more shooting. Sporting Hawkeye's new haircut, the actor captioned the photo with cryptic hashtags like "widow?" and "isanyonegonnashowup."

While some of Renner's hashtags are a little tricky to decipher, the use of "A6" is a direct reference to the original six heroes from 2012's The Avengers still being alive after Thanos' finger snap moment. However, it's important to remember that other characters like Rocket Raccoon, Okoye, War Machine and Ant-Man survived the Mad Titan's dusting and will have a part to play in Avengers 4.

It is interesting that stars like Chris Evans, Scarlett Johannson and Paul Rudd have all been involved in reshoots with their appearances close to their roles in 2016's Captain America: Civil War. Renner is still showing off Barton's new look, suggesting he won't be connected to the Captain America, Black Widow and Ant-Man sequence.

Hawkeye and Ant-Man were only briefly mentioned in Infinity War, but both are expected to have extensive parts to play in Avengers 4. It is unclear what forces Renner's Clint Barton to suit up once again, but one theory suggests that the "dusting" of his family could bring Hawkeye out of retirement.

Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Avengers 4 stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Brie Larson, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson, Paul Bettany, Anthony Mackie, Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Olsen, Tom Holland, Benedict Cumberbatch, Chadwick Boseman, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Karen Gillan, Evangeline Lilly and Josh Brolin. The film is set to hit theaters on May 3, 2019.
