Jensen Ackles confirmed that he was responsible for getting Supernatural easter eggs into Big Sky season 3.At a fan event for Supernatural, Ackles informed a delighted crowd and Misha Collins that it was he who came up with several references to his former show involving his character, Sheriff Beau Arlen. He shared that the writers had given him the freedom to make small alterations to the script, including giving a housewarming gift of salt to Cassie (Kylie Bunbury) for protection from demons, a folk belief popularized by Supernatural. "Did you throw that in, or did they put it in?" Collins asked. "No, I did," Ackles responded.RELATED: Supernatural's Jensen Ackles Reveals Castiel Almost Had a Spinoff

In the same episode, "The Woods Are Lovely, Dark and Deep," Ackles' character also had an exchange where he referenced pretending to be an FBI agent, something Supernatural characters memorably did. He also proudly took credit for the line "Werewolf? That’s a first for me!" in Episode 4, "Carrion Comfort." As only the first few episodes of the season have aired so far, Supernatural fans can allegedly look forward to even more Easter eggs.

Hurting some fans' hopes of a Jared Padalecki guest appearance, Ackles stated that he doesn't know if Beau's brother will ever appear on the show despite being referenced frequently. The season premiere had the character say he had a toy moose, but his brother stole it, in reference to a popular fan nickname for Supernatural's Sam Winchester, and later episodes have had Beau mention his brother on numerous occasions.
