Jensen Ackles says there's a chance that Supernatural will return in the future -- and he might be involved.

Speaking at the Television Critics Association press tour, Ackles teased a possible return to the Supernatural universe. “It’s [a] long journey that I don’t think is ever going to be over," said Ackles. "I think we’re just going to go away for a while. For how long, I don’t know."

Wrapping up with its 15th season, Ackles -- and costar Jared Padalecki -- has spent the majority of his career playing the same character. By ending such a time-consuming project, he'll now be free to pursue other things. But it looks as if the actor isn't willing to say goodbye to his most popular role.

CW President Mark Pedowitz told the TCA that the return of Supernatural is all down to one thing: The interest of Ackles and Padalecki. The series has been a core part of the CW lineup since its earliest days, and the dedicated fan following it has on social media is a huge mark in the show's favor. So, it seems as if the only thing stopping new episodes from happening is the two stars, who are understandably ready for a break.
