“X-Men: Apocalypse” not only marks the conclusion of a second trilogy of X-Men feature films, it also marks the last film that a number of the franchise’s key actors are contracted to do. James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult and Jennifer Lawrence all signed on for three films, and “Apocalypse” fulfills that contract. But as Lawrence told Empire during their “X-Men: Apocalypse” set visit, the actress might be willing to come back for more Mystique action.
“I am dying to come back,” said Lawrence. “I love these movies, I love being in them. I love ensemble movies because it’s not on anyone’s shoulders.”
These comments come from last summer, before “Apocalypse” wrapped production in August 2015. This is a more definitive statement than another answer Lawrence gave around that same time. Back during 2015’s Comic-Con International, the actress said she would go with her gut if asked to return.
“I think so, I want to,” said Lawrence. “I want them to ask me and then I’ll see how I feel in the moment when they ask. It might not make sense to a lot of people, but I feel like I’ll know when they ask. If I get a pit in my stomach and I feel like I’m going to throw up, I’ll say no. If I don’t, then I’ll ask how much they’ll pay me. I don’t have everything nailed down like Fassbender! I work more with stomachaches and numbers.”
“X-Men: Apocalypse” arrives in theaters on May 27, 2016.
