The cast of DC Universe's Swamp Thing continues to grow ahead of the start of principal photography.
The live-action series has cast Jennifer Beals (Flashdance, The L Word) as Lucilla Cable. The character is the town sheriff and mother of Matt Cable with the casting announcement describing her character as fiercely protective of her son.
Set in the fictional Louisiana small town, Marais, the community finds itself drawn into an unrelenting world of supernatural horror after the arrival of Swamp Thing.
The upcoming DC horror series is expected to begin principal photography soon on location in North Carolina with Len Wiseman (Underworld), who also executive produces the series, helming the pilot episode written by executive producers Mark Verheiden (Battlestar Galactica) and Gary Dauberman (The Nun). Verheiden also serves as the series' showrunner after a straight-to-series order by the premium streaming service this past May.
Executive produced by James Wan, Mark Verheiden, Gary Dauberman, Michael Clear, and Len Wiseman, Swamp Thing stars Derek Mears, Crystal Reed, Maria Sten, and Jennifer Beals. It is expected to premiere on DC Universe sometime in 2019.
