Jenna Coleman, who joined "Doctor Who" as Clara Oswald back in 2012, will reportedly depart the show before the Christmas special, according to BBC News.

Coleman's Clara has seen the Doctor through two regenerations, working alongside both Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi's versions of the character. BBC declined to confirm the report. Though ITV declined to comment, the report also claims Coleman will play 18-year-old Queen Victoria on a new drama series. Her new role would explore the queen's early reign in an eight-part miniseries.

"You're in Doctor Who knowing it will never last," Coleman told the Radio Times earlier this week. "It's constantly regenerating, so you want to make your time count and enjoy the adventure for the fleeting time you're here."

Starring Capaldi and Coleman, “Doctor Who” returns Saturday, Sept. 19, on BBC One and BBC America.
