Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi's What We Do in the Shadows spinoff series, Wellington Paranormal, has landed a summer premiere date on The CW.

Announcing its additional Summer 2021 premiere dates, the network revealed Wellington Paranormal will make its U.S. debut with back-to-back episodes on Sunday, July 11 at 9:00 p.m. EST, following that week's installment of DC's Legends of Tomorrow. A week later, the show will be paired with the Season 2 premiere of the British comedy series Dead Pixels in the same time slot.

Co-written and directed by Clement and Waititi, who also starred, the 2014 horror/comedy What We Do in the Shadows is a mockumentary about a group of vampires living together as roommates in Wellington, New Zealand. The film was a critical and commercial hit upon its release, paving the way to Waititi directing Thor: Ragnarok and its upcoming sequel, Love & Thunder. It also led to the creation of FX's What We Do in the Shadows, a spinoff show set in the same universe as the movie but centered on a different group of vampires -- Laszlo, Nadja and Nandor -- who reside in Staten Island, New York with a so-called "energy vampire" named Colin Robinson and Nandor's familiar, Guillermo De la Cruz.

Developed by Clement and Waititi, Wellington Paranormal also takes place in the same universe as the What We Do in the Shadows film and FX series. The show is a parody of police reality TV series that follows Wellington police officers Minogue and O'Leary from the movie as they investigate local paranormal incidents. It premiered in New Zealand in July 2018 and returned for its third season in Feb. 2021.
