Juliette Lewis is about to bring some more street cred to Jem and the Holograms. Deadline reports the actress and musician has been hired to appear in an undisclosed role in director Jon M. Chu's live-action adaptation.

Lewis, who's been acting since she was a teenager, has appeared in films like Cape Fear, From Dusk Till Dawn, Natural Born Killers and August: Osage County. No stranger to the world of rock, Lewis was in a band called Juliette and the Licks before going solo.

Jem and the Holograms, which stars Aubrey Peeples, Stefanie Scott, Hayley Kiyoko and Aurora Perrineau, follows the exploits of a band of young women running around Los Angeles on a musical scavenger hunt.

Lewis' role has yet to be named, but as Deadline points out, she could be playing the updated version of Synergy, Jem's computer help. It's also possible she might play an older, more experienced musician on the scene.
