Jeff Lemire and Dean Ormston's popular post-modern superhero series Black Hammer has been optioned for television and film by Legendary Entertainment.
The Eisner Award-winning series tells the story of the heroes and villains of Spiral City through the past and present with a revisionist sensibility exploring the human condition of its extraordinary characters as its pushing past conventional boundaries of the superhero genre.
Created by Lemire and Ormston, the series debuted in July 2016 through Dark Horse Comics and has since spun-off into four separate miniseries expanding the series' world and history, each written by Lemire and featuring their own acclaimed art team.
Lemire and Ormston will both serve as executive producers on the planned adaptation of their award-winning series.
In the meantime, the next two installments of the Black Hammer universe will be released this month with Black Hammer: The Quantum Age #4, written by Lemire and illustrated by Wilfredo Torres, being released on November 14 and Black Hammer: Age of Doom #7, written by Lemire and illustrated by Rich Tommaso, being released on November 21 both published by Dark Horse Comics.
