Jeff Goldblum made his debut as The Grandmaster in Thor: Ragnarok, earning praise from audiences, and even a short feature also starring Darryl, the thunder god's former roommate. Goldblum is interested in playing the cosmic being again, especially if he gets to team up with Taneleer Tivan, aka The Collector.
"Well, I overlapped with one day of Cate Blanchett's shooting and she’s so spectacular as Hela," Goldblum told the Toronto Sun when asked which Marvel character he'd like for The Grandmaster to meet. "I keep wanting to have scenes with her. We worked together on a Wes Anderson movie a while ago — The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou — and I sure would love to do anything with her. But, in the comic books, the character of the Grandmaster is the brother of The Collector, played by Benicio del Toro, who I adore. So I would enjoy doing something with him. That would be fun."
Del Toro first appeared as The Collector in the mid-credits scene for Thor: The Dark World. He later appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy, possessing one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's all-important Infinity Stones. Bringing the two character together might not be as impossible as it seems, considering Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige acknowledged he hopes to unite them onscreen, some day.
Directed by Taika Waititi, Thor: Ragnarok stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Cate Blanchett as Hela, Idris Elba as Heimdall, Jeff Goldblum as Grandmaster, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Karl Urban as Skurge, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk and Anthony Hopkins as Odin. The film is available now on Digital HD, Blu-ray and DVD.
